You will not be able to watch DVDs bought off base unless they are all regions or region 1 (USA) (UK is region 2). It’s a symbol that looks like a globe with a number on it which is usually found on the back of the DVD case. While some computers will play multiregional DVDs, often it is only for a number of times and will get stuck on one region, so please beware.
You can buy multi-region DVD players or if you use game consoles to watch DVDs on, they sometimes have a converter that you will need to use to set the machine before you watch a DVD.
If you still watch VHS, British tapes are not compatible with American machines so you will have to get a UK machine.
Just thought I would let you know.
All the Best!
